A2 Highway construction update, photos form march 2011.
Section Nowy Tomyśl - Świecko (PL / DE border) lenght 105 km. Will be finished by Dec 2011. All photos Autostrada Wielkpopolska form 21.03.2011:
Map of new section:
The cost of construction of 105.9 km of A2 section Świecko – Nowy Tomyśl is EUR 1.298 billion, that is EUR 12.2 million per kilometer of a fully equipped motorway. This is the lumpsum turnkey contract price for the fully equipped motorway ready for operation.
The scope of works includes inter alia:
105.9 km concrete pavement motorway, including 18.5 km of rehabilitation of the existing National Road No. 2
81 new bridges and overbridges , with target number of 87 of them
2 Operation and Maintenance Centers (Ilanka, Biały Mur)
6 full interchanges (Tomyśl, Trzciel, Jordanowo, Torzym, Rzepin, Świecko), with target number of 8
6 Rest and Service Areas (Rogoziniec, Chociszewo, Koryta, Walewice, Sosna, Gnilec, with target number of 10, equipped with parking areas, toilets, playgrounds, as well as 4 bars and 4 petrol stations,
closed toll collection system, i.e. 5 Toll Plazas and Stations (1 mainline Toll Plaza Tarnawa, 4 Toll Stations on interchanges Nowy Tomyśl, Trzciel, Jordanowo, Torzym); drivers will pay for the actual distance covered with ticket taken while entering the motorway and paying at the exit,
full environmental protection facilities (evaporation tanks, noise barriers, greenery, culverts, safety equipment, emergency roadside telephones every 2 km, fence along the entire motorway (save for the interchanges).
The company must apply extremely costly subsidence-preventing measures in the section of more than 5.5 km where weak soil conditions occur. On half of this section the weak soil is more than 10 meters thick, while for almost 1 kilometer the thickness of weak soil layers exceeds 25 meters.
The section to Świecko will be the one the longest Polish motorways build with concrete pavement. The motorway will be opened to traffic as a fully equipped facility, that is with Toll Plazas and Stations, Emergency Communication System and Rest & Service Areas.
Oh come on, guys. Why do you put so many photos in one post? It's killing those who has slower connection. Better put some 5-7 photos in post and make more posts instead of one. The more posts - the sooner the page will turn
Yes, I can see that and I can also see why it costs as much. An urban motorway with a similar number of junctions per kilometre can cost 16 million Euros per 1km easily. That's why I don't see why anyone would be surprised with less than 10 million Euros per 1km in this case. That is not a lot, it is what one would expect.
That isn't very expensive. 10 million Euros per 1 km. is a fairly normal price.
There are 4 non collision junctions, so every 2,5 km there`s no collision junction, 10 viaducts will be built. As one sees on the pohots there are massive excavation works and terrain isn`t flat. :-) .
Contruction site of Jarosław bypass (11,3 km lenght) near Ukrainian Border (South East Poland). Total cost 100 million EUR, will be ready in march 2012.
