The standard-gauge Eastern Railway met the Russian broad-gauge track at Eydtkuhnen, but due to the different track gauges, a continuous, direct train connection was not possible. Trains from Saint Petersburg ran to Eydtkuhnen, where passengers transferred to a Prussian standard-gauge train at the same platform. In the opposite direction, passengers could board at the Russian station of Wirballen, two kilometers away.
