    Gdansk - Polish Maritime Capital

Gdansk is the part of Tricity, its a very symbolic city, WW2 started here, its a birth of Solidarnosc and Lech Walesa and finaly a place where communism collapsed in 1989. Each year city is flooded with tourists thanks to its amazing old city(rebuilt) and beautiful landscapes

Delfinas, awesome pics, and very impressive city indeed. Maybe you could provide some more info about the medieval crane that we see on the last photo? Interesting monument of machinery i think.

The Crane over the Motława River
used to play the double role of a port crane and city gate. The structure was given its present shape between 1442-1444. Inside, a huge wooden wheel set in motion by men walking inside it. The crane served not only cargo reloading purposes, it was also a device to put up ship’s masts. It was the largest machine of its type in Europe, able to lift a load of 4 tons to a height of 27 metres on its boom.
